Hello everyone,

I’m Angela and I’m truly humbled and blessed to be the featured artist this month at Bible Journaling Jumpstart.  I live in Henderson, NV with my husband of 17 years, our 15 year old son and 9 year old daughter.  My background is in social work and for the past 13 years I’ve worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs serving veterans and their families.  My true passion is creating & art, so I spend much of my free time creating scripture watercolor artwork for others through my Art Ministry, Art Uplifted.   

My love for drawing, painting and creating began as a young child.  Throughout my teen years I continued creating and especially loved to draw & letter.  Art was my escape, where I found comfort & peace.  However, upon attending college I completely stopped creating and didn’t pick up a pencil or paintbrush for over 20 years.   It wasn’t until a few years ago in 2016 that God put a strong desire in my heart to start creating again, specifically drawing, painting, and lettering scripture.  I soon realized that my scripture art was a means to uplift & encourage others, so I began creating scripture artwork as gifts & donations.  What started out as a hobby quickly became my passion and ministry.  With no formal training in art I knew I needed to foster growth and refine my skills as an artist. I  found myself craving community in the art world, so two years ago I became more actively involved on Instagram and connected with amazing artists from across the globe through the Instagram art & bible journaling community.  I felt wonderfully embraced & deeply inspired by other artists who encouraged me to continue on with lettering scripture & watercoloring.  I have since developed my own, unique style and realized God has given me a special gift to use for His purpose.  I find that bible lettering and creating art draws me closer to the Lord everyday.  It helps me memorize scripture and deeply meditate on His every word.  I consider my scripture art a ministry, a vessel to share the Good News of God’s unfailing Love, amazing Grace, and relentless Mercy with others.  I am so truly blessed to be able to share my God given gift to bless, encourage, edify & uplift others. I encourage you to continue to use your special, unique gifts God has given you to draw closer to Him, to Glorify, Honor & Praise Him & bless others.
